Central Mailing System Set to Save Government ££££s

IDS has announced a solution to enable UK Government authorities, agencies, departments and offices to save vast sums of money by working together to form a central mailing system.

Government is encouraging all agencies to work together to provide more efficient and cost effective services.

One such product from IDS which would help Government realise this aim is MailSort On Demand. Not only will the solution allow you to take advantage of the postage saving offered by a Royal Mail bulk mail discount service such as CleanMail, MailSort or WalkSort, it demands different authorities, agencies, departments and/or offices work together more closely.

Even if you already use a service such as WalkSort for your CTAX or NNDR, the costs involved in posting everyday (back-office) mail can also be reduced in a similar way.

With discounts of between 4% and 34% available, the postage savings for any Government office, department or agency can be substantial.

Attaining Discount

Despite the savings, all Royal Mail bulk mail discount services carry a precondition that may have prevented you from using one for your back-office mail already – minimum quantity.

To qualify for a discount service, the number of mail items in a single run must exceed 1000 for the lower discounted services and 4,000 or 10,000 for the higher rated ones.

The minimum mail quantity may not be attainable by you alone, but by combining mail from other offices, departments and agencies, it is likely the Royal Mail’s requirements can be met.

Remember, it is not necessary for you to reach the minimum quantity everyday because mail can be accumulated until the required number is met.
